Reflecting the regions natural diversity this full day guided trip takes in the amazing geothermal activity of the Waimangu Volcanic Valley and the magnificence of the Whirinaki Rainforest.

Today’s experience begins with a walk and lake cruise amidst a stunning volcanic landscape with spectacular views of hot crater lakes, steaming cliffs, hissing fumeroles and colourful silica terraces.

Then step back into the past with a walk in the magnificent Whirinaki Rainforest famous for it’s towering 700 - 800 year old Rimu, Totara, Matai, Miro and Kahikatea - the ancient giants of New Zealand’s podocarp tree species.

Beneath the forest canopy wonder in awe at the rich diversity of native vegetation and birdlife amidst the spectacular scenery of rushing rivers and cascading waterfalls.
